Marine Biology Station

This structure came to be in 1999, its main objective being the scientific investigation relating to the areas of biology, echology of the litoral and of the deep sea. It is run by the Municipality of Funchal. The architect that projected the building was Gonçalo Byrne.

It also houses the “Professor Luiz Saldanha Library”,this being open to the public by appointment only.
